As Stamford cyclists gear up for summer adventures, we’re thrilled to spotlight a unique opportunity that combines challenging rides, camaraderie, and a dash of medieval heritage. The Queen Eleanor Cycle Ride (QECR) returns this August 22nd to 25th, offering a four-day journey perfect for riders seeking to push their limits while supporting a meaningful cause. Thanks to Andy for getting in touch.
Why the QECR Should Be on Your Radar
1. A Ride Steeped in Story
Honouring Queen Eleanor of Castile, this event lets you traverse scenic routes tied to her 13th century memorial crosses. It’s more than a ride – it’s a rolling history lesson through tranquil villages and lush landscapes.
2. Built for Community
Like our weekend social rides, the QECR thrives on connection. Cyclists group by pace (15 to 30 riders total), ensuring everyone from eager newcomers to seasoned climbers finds their tribe. Past participants range from 16 to 70+ – proof that passion, not age, fuels the pedals.
3. Stress Free Logistics
- Sleep: Rest in churches/halls (think adventure, not hardship – many hosts warmly welcome riders yearly).
- Eat: Enjoy hearty meals provided by local communities.
- Support: Luggage vehicles and emergency assistance let you focus on the road.
4. Stamford Pride on the Road
While we adore our local lanes, the QECR is a chance to represent Stamford’s cycling spirit beyond Lincolnshire. Imagine swapping stories with riders nationwide, then bringing fresh inspiration back to our weekend rides!
