I’m excited to share my latest adventure – one that’s about much more than just miles on the road. On Friday 27th June, I’ll be taking on a 100 mile bike ride through the beautiful countryside surrounding Stamford, all in support of St Gilbert’s Primary School PTA.
Why St Gilbert’s PTA Matters
The St Gilbert’s Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) is run entirely by volunteers, bringing parents, teachers and friends together to raise funds that benefit every child at the school. From school trips and extra-curricular activities to new equipment and resources, the money raised by the PTA helps make St Gilbert’s a thriving, supportive environment for all pupils.
In the past, PTA events like the Christmas Fairs, Summer Fairs and cake sales have raised thousands of pounds, directly funding opportunities and experiences that wouldn’t otherwise be possible. Every penny raised goes back into the school, ensuring all children can benefit – regardless of financial circumstances.
The Power of School Trips
As a parent, I’ve seen firsthand how educational trips spark curiosity and bring learning to life. These aren’t just fun days out – they’re powerful experiences that build confidence, inspire new interests and create memories. Unfortunately, budget constraints mean not every child gets these opportunities, which is why this fundraising ride is so important.
The 100 Mile Challenge
On June 27th, I’ll be pushing my limits with a one day, 100 mile ride – roughly eight hours in the saddle. I’m aiming to raise £1,000 to help cover transport costs, entrance fees and educational materials for future school trips. Every donation, big or small, will help make sure no child misses out because of cost.
