Right, so I’ve got to tell you about this brilliant resource that’s just landed on my radar – stamford.org.uk, created by a local chap called Gareth who moved here a couple of years ago.
He found himself scratching his head trying to find decent, up-to-date info about what Stamford actually has to offer. Sound familiar? So he built the site himself and is useful for visitors coming to our lovely corner of Lincolnshire.
What I find refreshing is how straightforward it is. Gareth’s put together proper guides to all the local pubs and restaurants – including which ones are dog-friendly. It’s the kind of practical information that saves you awkwardly asking “can we bring the dog or bikes inside?”
But here’s where it gets even better for us cyclists. The site’s grown beyond just food and drink venues. Gareth’s added sections for local sports clubs – including ours at Stamford Cycling – plus regular updates about seasonal events, markets and what’s happening around town.
What strikes me most is that Gareth’s created this from a genuine desire to help locals and visitors alike. It’s that same community spirit we celebrate in our club rides.
So next time you’re planning a café stop or showing visitors what makes Stamford special, give stamford.org.uk a look. It’s comprehensive, regularly updated and genuinely full of useful info!
