There’s something special brewing in the cycling scene around Stamford, and it’s being led by two passionate riders who’ve decided to create something more than just another cycling club. Meet Johnny and Si, the minds behind Stamford Cycling.
Johnny – Strava @JohnnyT
Johnny brings a fresh perspective to our local rides, having clocked up 690 miles on Strava exploring the South Kesteven lanes. You’ll often find him testing his pace along Ryhall road or down any hill!
- 2024 Distance: 500km
- 2025 Distance Goal: At least 1000km
Si – Strava @SiG
When not hunting Strava segments around Little Bytham (where he just nabbed a 2:22 PB, by the way), Si’s been putting in the miles across Lincolnshire’s finest roads. With over 1,400 miles on his legs and having conquered more than 52,000 feet of climbing, he knows every bump and bend of our local routes.
- 2024 Distance: 321km
- 2025 Distance Goal: 1,000 to 2,000km
Why Stamford Cycling?
Last Sunday perfectly captured what these two are building. Their morning spin through Rutland and South Kesteven wasn’t just about the miles (Si: 23.7, Johnny: 21.2) or the elevation (a cheeky 1,000+ feet) – it was about creating those moments where cycling becomes more than just pedalling.
The roads around here have stories to tell. Whether it’s finding the best cafe stops, dodging the notorious potholes, or discovering new routes, they’re building more than a club – they’re creating a cycling community.
Fancy joining them? You’ll find these two out most weekends, testing themselves on local climbs or plotting new adventures over coffee. Just look for the riders who know every back lane from here to Rutland Water – and probably have a tale or two about each one.
Coffee is guaranteed after rides, and new faces are always welcome. See you on the road!
