I wonder if any of you might be interested in taking part in of this years Queen Eleanor Cycle Ride? The ride will take place over the end of August Bank Holiday weekend.
The ride heads off in the early afternoon of the Friday, from Harby village hall, heads to Lincoln Cathedral (where some of Queen Eleanor is buried – it’s all part of her story) and then follows the route of the Queen Eleanor Crosses passing through Stamford and visiting the site where the cross used to be. It concludes mid afternoon on the Bank Holiday Monday at Westminster Cathedral in London with a visit to Queen Eleanor’s tomb.
This is a ride for all abilities and ages and is not a race.
The purpose of the ride is to raise funds for The Connection, a charity for the homeless based in St Martins in the Field, London.
I’ve done the ride three times myself and have always had a great time and we are looking for riders to join us again this year.
The ride is fully supported with luggage transport and guides. All food is included but any hotel accommodation of the first and last night is at riders expense. On the Saturday evening, participants are hosted by locals at Geddington and on the other nights, accommodation is provided in local church halls or similar.
