Quick answer: The Wahoo KICKR CORE 2 with Zwift Cog & Click is a direct-drive smart trainer that your own bike clips onto. The Zwift Cog replaces your cassette, the Zwift Click shifts gears from the handlebars and the whole setup works with ROUVY. Buy through our Stamford Cycling link and you’ll get 10% off, taking it from £499.99 to £449.99. It isn’t a weekend flash sale, so there’s no need to rush.

On our ROUVY free trial page, I owned up to my own indoor setup: Mark’s spare turbo with my mountain bike strapped to it. Whilst it got me riding indoors, it didn’t last long as it was quite loud, so I quickly switched to a dedicated setup.
For most of the club, the question isn’t “do I want a whole new indoor bike?”. It’s “what’s the least faff way to get the bike I already own onto ROUVY on a Thursday night?”. For a lot of you, this is it.

What’s in the box?
You get the trainer with the Zwift Cog already fitted, the Zwift Click shifter and the adapters for most road, gravel and mountain bikes. Your bike’s rear wheel comes off and the frame clips straight onto the trainer.
| Part | What it does |
|---|---|
| KICKR CORE 2 trainer | The direct-drive smart trainer. ROUVY says it follows real route gradients, so climbs get harder and descents ease off. |
| Zwift Cog (pre-installed) | A single sprocket that replaces a normal cassette. ROUVY lists it as working with almost any 8 to 13-speed bike. |
| Zwift Click | A small controller that straps to your bars and changes your virtual gears. |
| Axle adapters | Quick release (130 and 135 mm) and thru-axle (12×142 and 12×148 mm), so most road, gravel and mountain bikes fit. |
| Power adapter | It plugs in at the wall. There’s no battery in the trainer. |
The big win is the Cog. A normal trainer needs a cassette that matches your bike’s gearing, and swapping bikes means re-indexing gears. With a single cog and virtual shifting, there’s nothing to match. Your road bike and my mountain bike can share the same trainer.

Your own bike or a Zwift Ride?
If you’ve got a bike you’re happy riding, this is the cheaper and smaller way indoors. It’s the same KICKR CORE 2 trainer that comes inside the Zwift Ride V2 bundle. The Zwift Ride just adds a dedicated indoor frame on top.

Figures are from ROUVY’s product pages.
Go for the KICKR CORE 2 if:
- You’ve got a road, gravel or mountain bike that fits you and you’re happy to use it indoors.
- You want to spend less. You’re paying for the trainer, not a second bike.
- Space is tight. It tucks into a corner when you’re not riding.
- You ride outdoors on the same bike, so your position indoors matches your Sunday Social position.
Look at the Zwift Ride instead if:
- You want to sit down and ride with no bike swapping, every time.
- Several people at home will share it and they’re different heights.
- You’d rather your good bike never sees a drop of indoor sweat.
Does Zwift Cog & Click work with ROUVY?
Yes. ROUVY supports virtual shifting on this trainer, and its help centre lists the Zwift Click as a supported shifter. You don’t need a Zwift account to use it on ROUVY.
You’ll still see some retailer listings saying Click shifting only works in Zwift. ROUVY’s own virtual shifting guide is the one to trust here, and it covers the Click.
A few things worth knowing before your first ride:
- Connect the trainer over Bluetooth or WiFi, not ANT+. ROUVY says ANT+ can’t carry the shifting commands, so gears won’t change.
- Riding on Apple TV? It only allows two Bluetooth connections. If your trainer and heart rate strap take both, the Click can’t connect. Put the trainer on WiFi and both Bluetooth slots are free.
- Update the Click first. ROUVY recommends updating Zwift hardware through the Zwift Companion app before pairing it.
- In ERG workouts the buttons do something different. There are no gears to change, so each press nudges your target power up or down by 2%.
- You press once per gear. Holding the button down doesn’t run through the gears.
Will it fit my bike?
It fits most bikes with 8 to 13 gears at the back and either quick-release or 12 mm thru-axle wheels. Here’s what ROUVY lists.
| Check | What fits |
|---|---|
| Gears at the back | 8 to 13-speed |
| Quick release | 130 and 135 mm (skewer included) |
| Thru-axle | 12×142 and 12×148 mm (adapters included) |
| Max rider weight | 114 kg |
That covers most road and gravel bikes, and most modern mountain bikes with Boost (12×148) rear ends. If your bike uses anything else, or you’re not sure, pop a photo of your rear axle in the club WhatsApp. Somebody will know what to do and help get you rolling.
Wahoo KICKR CORE 2 with Zwift Cog & Click specs
It’s a direct-drive trainer good for 1,800 W and a simulated 16% gradient, with power accurate to within 2%. These are the figures on ROUVY’s product page (checked 14 October 2026).
| Spec | ROUVY lists |
|---|---|
| Trainer type | Direct-drive smart trainer |
| Resistance | Electromagnetic |
| Drive | Belt drive, described as smooth and virtually silent |
| Maximum power | 1,800 W |
| Maximum simulated gradient | 16% |
| Power accuracy | +/- 2% |
| Flywheel | 5.4 kg |
| Connectivity | Bluetooth, ANT+ and WiFi, with automatic firmware updates |
| KICKR Bridge | Passes heart rate data through the trainer |
| Cassette | Zwift Cog V2 pre-installed, for 8 to 13-speed bikes |
| Axles | 130/135 mm quick release, 12×142 and 12×148 mm thru-axle |
| Works with | KICKR CLIMB and KICKR HEADWIND fan |
| Max rider weight | 114 kg |
| Size (set up) | 59.7 cm long x 52 cm wide x 47 cm high |
| Weight | 19.7 kg |
The 16% gradient ceiling matters on ROUVY. Real-road routes include proper climbs and anything steeper than 16% will feel like 16%. For a club that thinks the drag out of Ketton is a mountain, that’s plenty.
Setting it up for ROUVY
The first setup takes a bit of time. After that, dropping your bike on is quick. This is the general order, based on ROUVY’s setup guides.
- Build the trainer. Fold out the legs and bolt them on. Wahoo describes it as a simple four-bolt job.
- Fit the right adapter for your bike. Quick release or thru-axle, both are in the box.
- Take your rear wheel out and drop the chain onto the Zwift Cog. Close the skewer or thru-axle, just like putting a wheel back in.
- Strap the Zwift Click to your bars where your thumb lands naturally.
- Plug the trainer in and update everything. Do the trainer in the Wahoo app and the Click in the Zwift Companion app.
- Open ROUVY and connect the trainer over Bluetooth or WiFi. Then add the Click from the sensors screen as a remote control.
- Do a ten-minute spin on any route. Click through the gears and check the resistance changes before Thursday. Trust me on this one.
New to ROUVY? Our ROUVY free trial gives you about five weeks free (the usual 7 days, plus your first month at 100% off), with the sign-up steps on that page. The trial is for the app, and this trainer is the hardware. You need both to ride.
Ride it with us on Thursdays
Once you’re set up, come and ride with the club. Our Thursday social has moved indoors to ROUVY for the winter, every Thursday at 7pm.
- Find it: in the ROUVY app, open Events, search for Stamford Cycling and hit Join Event.
- Or join our Strava Club and find the latest links to our rides from there.
- Length: about an hour.
- Pace: social and no-drop. Everyone follows the ride leader and ROUVY keeps the group together.
- Arrive early: join from about 6:50pm so you’re in the warm-up pen when we roll out.
It’s the same crowd as our summer Thursday rides from The William Cecil, minus the pint at the end. Sundays stay outdoors all winter, and an hour on the trainer midweek makes those cold Sunday mornings out past Tinwell a lot friendlier.
