Who we are
Stamford Cycling is a social cycling club based in Stamford, Lincolnshire. For the purposes of UK data protection law, we are the “data controller” of the personal information you provide to us.
If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your information, contact us.
What information we collect
When you sign up to our newsletter, we collect:
- Your first name

When you browse our website, our website host and any analytics tools we use may also collect limited technical information automatically, such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you visit. See the “Cookies” section below.
How we collect it
We collect this information directly from you when you complete the newsletter sign-up form on our website. We do not buy or obtain your contact details from any third party.
Why we use your information, and our lawful basis
We use your name and email address to send you our newsletter, which includes club rides, events, socials, routes, training tips, and member perks.
Our lawful basis for sending you marketing emails is your consent, which you give when you submit the sign-up form. You can withdraw this consent at any time (see “Unsubscribing” below).
We use any technical website data on the basis of our legitimate interests in keeping the site secure and understanding how it is used so we can improve it.

We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
We do use trusted service providers to run our newsletter and website, and your information may be processed by them on our behalf:

- IONOS — to host our website.
These providers act under our instructions and are required to keep your information secure. Some may store data outside the UK; where they do, appropriate safeguards are in place as required by UK data protection law.
We may also disclose information if required to do so by law.
How long we keep it
We keep your information for as long as you remain subscribed to our newsletter. If you unsubscribe, we will remove your details from our active mailing list, though we may retain a minimal record of your unsubscribe request so we can honour it.
Cookies
Our website may use cookies and similar technologies to help it function and to understand how visitors use it. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings. We use Google Analytics to measure website traffic, with cookie ‘_GA’ and consent is asked when first visiting the website.
